What Is the Hanging Bridges Tour?

The Hanging Bridges Tour takes you across a network of suspended and fixed walkways through the rainforest canopy near Arenal Volcano — some hovering over river valleys, others weaving between towering trees. It's one of the easiest ways to see wildlife at multiple levels of the forest, from the leaf-cutter ants on the ground to the toucans overhead.

The route runs as a loop through the forest, with well-maintained trails connecting each bridge. Two daily departures — 7:30 AM and 2:00 PM — let you choose between an early-morning wildlife push or a calmer afternoon walk.

What You'll See

Sightings can't be guaranteed, but on most days there's a high chance you'll spot:

• Toucans, motmots, and other rainforest birds
• Coatis and other mammals along the forest floor
• Poison dart frogs near the stream crossings
• Elevated views of the rainforest canopy and river valleys from the suspended bridges
• Sloths resting in the canopy, spotted by trained guides
